Luckily, there has been no Corona case in the orphanage yet. This may be because Vietnam has been less affected by COVID-19 so far. Regional foci have been the coastal city of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Nevertheless, caution is advised because once a child in the orphanage is infected, it would be challenging to stop the virus’s spread within the orphanage. We could already see this very well through other illnesses of the children. Cases of flu, colds, scabies caused by mites, and gastroenteritis often occur in the orphanage after the rainy season. Especially during the monsoon season from June to September in the north and south and from October to December in central Vietnam, many children fall ill due to the humidity and wetness. Since the children share the dormitories, it is impossible to isolate the sick children and thereby protect the other children from infection. Many children have a weak immune system and are particularly susceptible to infectious diseases. Above all, they need protection and enough rest to heal.

That is why we want to build an infirmary!

We want to build a room equipped with separate beds and a lockable medicine cabinet in the health house. This should contain all kinds of medicines, first aid kits, bandages, plasters, thermometers, disinfectants, etc., and be provided with necessary medical equipment to ensure adequate medical care.
